{"id":7902,"date":"2025-07-29T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wcsbluefuture.com\/?p=7902"},"modified":"2025-09-26T19:11:57","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T18:11:57","slug":"world_mangrove_ecosystem_day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wcsbluefuture.com\/en\/events\/world_mangrove_ecosystem_day\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Future Project celebrates the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem in Geba &#8211; A Living Tribute to Nature"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On July 26th, more than 1,000 people gathered in Geba, Memba District in Nampula, to honour the vital role of mangroves in sustaining life and livelihoods, as part of WCS\u2019s <strong>Blue Future Project.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a remarkable display of commitment, community members planted approximately 15,000 seedlings of the mangrove species <em>Rhizophora mucronata<\/em>, strengthening our bond with the ecosystems that protect us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day began with early morning planting, followed by an inspiring opening ceremony featuring powerful messages from local leaders and environmental advocates.
