On August 6 and 7, 2025, WCS Mozambique was honored to receive a visit from Bloomberg Ocean Initiative, one of the main funders of the Blue Future project, which is transforming the lives of coastal communities in northern Mozambique. The visit took place in the communities of Napila and Geba, in the district of Memba, with the aim of closely monitoring the activities implemented on the ground and evaluating the progress achieved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the active participation of more than 70 beneficiaries, the visit was an unique opportunity for the Community Fisheries Councils (CCPs) to present their progress: from the management of protected areas to community organization, goals achieved and future sustainable plans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This mission had the fundamental collaboration of strategic partners such as RARE, SDAE (District Service of Economic Activities), AMA (Environmental Association) and ADPP (Development Aid from People to People), which have actively contributed to the strengthening of local capacities and the implementation of the project’s activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day also included a visit to the mangrove nursery, where visitors participated in a hands-on demonstration of planting native species, part of the ongoing effort to restore the ecosystems. The experience culminated in the farm of the livelihoods club, a dynamic space where participants shared learning, applied horticultural techniques, and held demonstrations of sustainable cooking with local products to improve communities’ nutrition, a clear example of how the project integrates food security, income generation and valorisation of natural resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visit reinforces the importance of international cooperation and investment in Ecosystem based Adaptation (EbA), as key pillars to promote resilient communities, healthy ecosystems, and a bluer and more sustainable future for all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
