Venue: Nacala Porto
Organisation: WCS Blue Future Project

The Blue Future, in line with its mission to address the challenges posed by climate change, includes an outcome aimed specifically at strengthening national and regional capacity in Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA) approaches. This output’s primary goal is to improve the capacity of key institutions and stakeholders, with a view to strengthening information relevant to EbA and promoting awareness among government and other actors to implement EbA projects. In addition, the project seeks to improve relations with local communities, making them active participants in the design and implementation of these projects.

The EbA approach plays a crucial role in adapting to climate change and improving the lives of communities, and is key to tackling today’s environmental challenges. By integrating ecosystem services into adaptation strategies, EbA strengthens the resilience of communities and provides economic and social benefits through interventions that can protect ecosystems, but also contribute to food security, water supply and reducing the risk of natural disasters.

Between 23 and 25 January 2024, in the city of Nacala-Porto, 27 trainees took part in the training, including representatives from the Provincial Environmental Services (SPA), fisheries technicians from the District Services for Economic Activities (SDAE), instructors from the Livelihoods Clubs of the Blue Future project, AMA field technicians, AENA representatives and IPN (Polytechnic Institute of Nacuxa). water supply and reducing the risk of natural disasters.
